PURDYS RESTORATIONS

Pictured above - one of our restorations.  Have your scooter restored by us - come in and discuss your requirements.

This is a very early Vespa, Model VMA1, from 1967 - originally silver. This Vespa was bought from Lady Dugdale, who bought the machine from Isabel, Duchess of Devonshire in the early 1970s.  Both ladies are personal friends of the Queen.

Lady Dugdale purchased the machine to 'rest' the Bentley during the fuel crisis, but didn't feel comfortable on it.  Her son, Edward, used the scooter around the estate tracks, unfortunately ending up in a ditch one day!  Although he survived to tell the tale, the Vespa had its forks crunched back so far the tyre dented the underside of the frame!

Rumour has it that this Vespa was one given to the Queen by Douglas of Kingswood, enabling them to continue using the Royal 'By Appointment' cypher.
